The WP addresses the effects of various tax/benefit policy measures on the labour market using a similar modelling approach in an EU-15 and a NMS country, the role of minimum wages under endogenous productivity, and evaluates tax/benefit systems and the employment patterns in the NMS.

The WP addresses the theoretical and empirical issues of the long-run impacts of tax/benefit systems on productivity and unemployment, and focuses on the catching up, or the lack of it, of the EU countries towards the US, and the role of tax/benefit systems in this using various empirical approaches.
